Work week - day 3

  • created posters and matching bookmarks for reading initiative. After a week of trying to do it with Photoshop, I discovered that Pages has a masking feature, so used that instead. Poster was done in 2 hours and is stunning! Bookmarks were ready in less than that. Now to wait until August to see them in print. That’s the bad part.
  • finished state-of-the-library presentation with statistics that were emailed in because they are not available online.
  • went home early. I worked so hard on the posters and bookmarks I didn’t eat my yummy Indian leftovers lunch until 2 o’clock and then couldn’t keep my eyes open.

Work week - day 2

  • collected statistics on our subscribed databases
  • updated state-of-the-library presentation with databases subscription in preparation for next school year’s orientation
  • emailed database that does not offer their statistics online. Waiting for answer.

Promoted piñata relentlessly at student entrance and at the morning assembly Emailed Scholastic for a replacement book Led 2 kindergarten sessions Answered parent query about an overdue book and contacted a patron to return a book that another patron requested Finished labeling reader’s theater leveled reader sets. Waiting on laminated dividers. Opened Planbook to type in next week’s sessions but only got to g5 and remembered we hadn’t located their books, but then again, they’re not asking for any of them. Noticed that Tumblr will accept Mail’s formatting so don’t have to learn html after all

Making a piñata for our school’s PTA annual fundraiser. The theme for the fundraiser this year is “green” so I thought I’d give Earth Hour a plug as well. (Earth Hour will be on March 27, from 8:30 to 9:30 your local time. More information here.)

Today was Thursday, my early childhood day. Worked on piñata before my first class and all afternoon until dismissal. Plugged the piñata at every single class I had today: preK, nursery, grade 1. Read aloud books with piñatas in them. Leveled books for reading resource room. Inventory on server in language arts folder. Responded to emails from the Scholastic rep about the January order and confirmed refunds. Checked into to grade 4 about their next unit. Will be on How we organize ourselves theme, so one of the teachers suggested ……………. oh heck, I can’t remember and I’d better because she’s expecting me to bring stuff to share. Anticipating teachers’ needs will help me strengthen my street cred with them, but if I can’t remember what she just said, I’m doomed!!! Danish parent told me that in Denmark, they have wooden piñatas. They are actually barrels with a black cat painted on them, because in the olden times they actually put a live cat inside. Good grief!
